There’s a problem with the system, it’s a corrupt government
Two extremes that don’t believe they need to represent
Two parties with different ideals and opposing points of view
But share one goal, to gain control of those like me and you
It’s not about fame and glory or justice and the truth
It’s all about the money from them special interest groups
It’s election time again, it’s the same every year
Politicians come to town to say what we want to hear
Promises are made and kept but just for the elite
Us lower class can kiss their ass and grovel at their feet
They go and hide in their offices and chase their aides around
While there’s people outside dying and the city’s burning down
Entrusted to the welfare of their constituents
Politicians promise anything for whatever votes it gets
Then it’s every man for himself, grabbing what he hasn’t yet
And hope that by election time the voters they will forget
Courting corporations for contributions and other perks
It’s party time on the voter’s dime without a moment’s work
There’s no escape from the rat race there’s nothing we can do
The constitution guarantees protection from those like me and you
Politicians just don’t care about anything we say
They only tow the party line ‘cause that is how they’re paid
The system isn’t broken, it’s working fine for those in power
Just don’t expect for us to get what is rightfully ours
